Damage from sun and aging

Whether it's exposure to the elements or poor lifestyle choices like an unhealthy diet or smoking, our skin takes a beating. Damage can include everything from age spots, freckles, and pigmentation to uneven skin tone. Facial veins known as vascular lesions and wrinkles can also occur.

IPL photofacial

An IPL (also known as intense pulsed light) photofacial is a state-of-the-art technology that uses different wavelengths of light to help your skin look clearer and younger. Unlike a laser which employs one wavelength of light, IPL treatment involves light that is less focused and more scattered. It bypasses the outer layer of skin and hits the dermis, the second layer, resulting in less damage.

Light energy is absorbed by targeted areas of tissue which are damaged by the heat. As your body heals itself new elastin fibers, collagen, and skin tissue form and replaces your previous imperfections. This reduces spots and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles.

Before your procedure, we evaluate your skin and answer any questions you might have. Then, we design a protocol that is right for you. Our team will also provide you with recommendations on activities and medications to avoid leading up to your treatment.

You can receive IPL on your face, neck, décolleté, shoulders, and other areas. The procedure itself typically takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on the size of the area.

The light pulses may sting a little bit, but you'll be wearing dark glasses for eye protection. You may have some tenderness, redness, and swelling within the first couple of days that then improve over the following week. Results become clear four to eight weeks after the procedure.

Every person is unique. However, three to five treatments are recommended at least a month apart. You'll also need an annual IPL photofacial beginning the following year.
